Low end
Weight without the mud.
LOW · SHELF · 100 Hz · +12 dB (and +6 dB)
Set to 100 Hz · G2 at +12 dB, the lift peaks at 82 Hz · E2 with 12.2 dB.
The sub at 20 Hz gets 10.9 dB: 1.3 dB of punch over the sub, not more mud.

01SALTA EQ56
SALTA EQ56 is not designed to simply make an EQ curve. It is designed to change how a sound feels: the weight under a bass, the air over a vocal, the way a drum bus sits forward without getting louder.
02Color · measured
Push the lamp and the band adds its harmonic layer on top of the clean signal. Real numbers, measured through the plug-in.
dB below the fundamental. Off: nothing above the noise.

Mid
MID · BELL · 1 kHz · +12 dB
The bell peaks on its own centre: 1 kHz set, 1 kHz lifted, 0.00 semitones off the dial.
With its lamp on the band leans: a little weight under the mud, a little edge off 2-3 kHz.

High · Clarity
HIGH · SHELF · 8 kHz · +12 dB (and +6 dB)
On SHELF a boost is a parallel branch, added to the signal: the top opens rather than just getting louder.
CLARITY works on the sides. A source hard on the left leaves the right at -121 dBFS: nothing crosses over.
Color · harmonics
All three lamps, 1 kHz tone: 0.032% distortion at -36 dBFS, 1.1% at -18, 9.9% at 0 dBFS. The second harmonic falls 12.8 dB for every 12 dB the level drops, which is what a valve does and what a clipper does not.
Distortion against input level, all three lamps on a 1 kHz tone.
04Instrument · measured
Hover, or tap, to open one. Every claim carries the figure behind it.
A boost and a cut working together below the corner, the way the classic passive equalizers did. Set to 100 Hz and +12 dB, the lift peaks at 82 Hz: punch over the sub instead of mud.
lowA second lamp on the high band: a lift on the sides, a little given back in the middle, and the top widens without turning brittle. Nothing crosses over between the channels.
clarityA harmonic layer per band, added on top of the clean signal. LOW on a 60 Hz tone puts the second harmonic at -19.8 dB and nothing where it does not belong.
colorThree bands, shelf or bell. Frequency knobs lock on the printed marks; the window names the note to the cent and, on LOW, the note actually being lifted when it differs.
toneFrom a hint to a grind, by level: all three lamps read 1.1 % distortion at -18 dBFS and 9.9 % at 0 dBFS, falling away as the signal does, the way a valve does.
characterTwin VU meters, a crossfaded EQ IN, an output trim, factory presets, a dark or cream panel. One millisecond of latency, reported to the host.
