Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This page explains what personal data saltstrom.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect what is needed to sell and support our software and, only with your permission, measure visits to the site and how our ads perform.
Who we are
SALTSTRÖM makes audio plug-ins and sells them on saltstrom.com. For anything about your data, write to us through the Contact page.
What we collect and why
When you buy
Your name, email address, billing address, the phone number if you give one, what you ordered and for which platform, and the amount paid. WooCommerce, the shop software we use, also records the IP address and browser the order came from. We use this to deliver your licence, send the order emails, answer support questions, prevent fraud and keep the accounts the law requires.
Payment
Card payments are handled by WooPayments, which runs on Stripe. Your card details go straight to them and never reach our server. We see only the card brand, the last four digits and the expiry date, and only if you choose to save the card to your account.
Your licence
A licence is your email address and a key. The key is made from that email address and the product name. The plug-in itself never goes online: it sends us nothing about you, your computer or your sessions.
Your account
An account is optional. If you create one we keep your email address, your password in hashed form, your addresses, your orders, any saved payment method reference and your points balance with its history.
Newsletter
Only if you sign up: your email address, used to tell you about new plug-ins and updates. You can leave the list at any time with the link in each email or by writing to us.
Demo download
Before the 7-day demo downloads we ask for your email address, and send you the download links for macOS and Windows so you can install it on another computer later. We keep the address with the date and the platform of the request, and may send one note when the trial is nearly over. If you tick the box in the form, the address also joins the newsletter.
Contact form
Your name, email address, the topic, the order number if you give one, and your message. They arrive in our mailbox and are used to answer you.
Reviews
The name, email address and text you enter, plus your IP address and browser, which help with spam detection. Your name and review are public. A hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to show a profile picture if you have one there.
Cookies and similar storage
The site sets the cookies it needs to work. Everything else is optional: Analytics (Google Analytics), Marketing (the Meta pixel and Google Ads) and Google reCAPTCHA. If you visit from the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a banner asks first, and none of them runs until you allow it; elsewhere they run without asking. Wherever you are, you can see and change the choice through “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. A choice is kept for 180 days.
Necessary (always on)
saltstrom_consent: your cookie choice. 180 days.woocommerce_cart_hash,woocommerce_items_in_cart,wp_woocommerce_session_*: what is in your cart and your checkout session. Session, or up to 2 days.wordpress_logged_in_*,wordpress_sec_*,wp-settings-*: keep you signed in to your account and remember its settings. Session, or up to 1 year if you choose “Remember me”.__stripe_mid(1 year) and__stripe_sid(30 minutes): set by Stripe on the checkout to detect fraudulent payments.- Your browser’s local storage keeps a copy of the cart and the look of the payment fields so pages load faster, and
sg_demo_okremembers that you already gave an email for the demo, so the form is not shown again. It leaves your device only as part of the cart and checkout requests.
With your consent
_ga,_ga_*(up to 2 years, Analytics): Google Analytics counts visits and the pages and products viewed, so we can improve the site. No advertising use._fbp(3 months) and_fbc(3 months, only when you arrive from one of our ads), Marketing: the Meta pixel measures our ads on Facebook and Instagram – visits, demo requests and purchases that follow them._gcl_au(3 months, Marketing): Google Ads conversion measurement, once we advertise on Google._GRECAPTCHA(6 months, set by google.com): Google reCAPTCHA, which protects the contact, newsletter, account and review forms from automated abuse. It is loaded only after you allow it, in the banner or at the form itself. Without it you can still browse, buy and use your account; the protected forms ask for your permission before they send.
Services that receive data
- WooPayments and Stripe: payment processing and fraud prevention.
- Hostinger: hosting of the website and of our email. Server logs include IP addresses.
- Google reCAPTCHA: protects the contact, newsletter, account and review forms from automated abuse. When you use one of these forms, Google receives your IP address and information about your browser and how you use the page. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads (Google): with your Analytics or Marketing consent, Google receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit, and, for a purchase, the order number and amount.
- Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram): with your Marketing consent, the Meta pixel sends Meta the pages you visit and the demo requests and purchases you make. For a demo request or a purchase our server also sends it, with an encrypted (hashed) form of your email address, so the event is counted reliably. Meta’s Privacy Policy applies.
- Google Fonts: the site’s typefaces are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address when a page loads.
- Gravatar (Automattic): profile pictures next to reviews, as described above.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it. Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Orders and invoices: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Your account: until you ask us to delete it.
- Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe.
- Demo requests: until you ask us to delete them.
- Messages and reviews: for as long as they are needed to answer you or remain published.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or ask us to send it to you in a portable form. Write to us through the Contact page, from the email address concerned. Order records that the law obliges us to keep cannot be deleted before that period ends. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date.
